My Dear Hamilton: A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton

From the New York Times bestselling authors of America’s First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton—a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. My Dear Hamilton is a powerful read. Authors Dray and Kamoie have once again written another seamless story about a significant woman whom history has long ignored. My Dear Hamilton is a powerful read. Authors Dray and Kamoie have once again written another seamless story about a significant woman whom history has long ignored. Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton has been known as merely the wife of American giant Alexander Hamilton. This historical novel pulls her out of the shadows and gives her center stage. Her life spanned some of the most integral parts of early American history: the frontier, the Revolution, the building of the Republic, and the antebellum years. Eliza was a stoic woman, facing what life threw at her, most of which resulted from her husband's military and political careers. The story reveals a well rounded view of Hamilton and how his wife may have reacted to all of his exploits. The book deftly illustrates what a scalawag he was as well. I enjoyed the authors' notes at the end. No official biography of Eliza Hamilton exists, but this book will give readers a tantalizing glimpse of her life. Thanks to a kind publicist I was able to read an advance galley of the book before it was officially published.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book from Goodreads Giveaways and I’m so glad I did! After seeing Hamilton on Broadway a couple of years ago I, like the authors, wanted to know more about Eliza Schuyler Hamilton. Much to my chagrin, there really weren’t any books (historical or otherwise) about her.

Eliza wanted to make sure that Alexander’s story was told and I was eagerly awaiting someone to tell hers. Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie did an excellent job doing just that.

There haven’t been many books lately that have made me lose sleep to finish but this one certainly did. My Dear Hamilton is such a well-written book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to reading their other work because I’m a little sad that this one is over!

Thank you goodreads giveaways for an advanced copy of My Dear Hamilton.

I do not hand out 5 star ratings often, but My Dear Hamilton deserves 5 stars - or more, it was my favorite book of the year! I was at first intimidated by the length - over 600 pages - but they just flew by when reading. I love how Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie makes history very interesting and real. They tell the story of Alexander Hamilton and the founding of the country through the eyes of his wife, Eliza. I LOVED this

I received a copy of this book through the Goodreads giveaway program. This was the best book I have read in quite awhile. Some of my favorite books both fiction and nonfiction have to do with the Revolutionary War and its figures so this book already had that going for it. The characters in the book are so vivid and multi-faceted. I thoroughly enjoyed going along with Eliza's struggles to understand her complicated husband and their relationship. This is definitely a book that I'll read again.

This was a wonderful and fascinating book. It’s called a novel, and I don’t know how much was true and how much was fiction. I imagine though that it is mostly true. Since I am not a history fanatic, I knew very little about the details of the Revolutionary War, and found a lot of new information. Definitely worth reading.

Eliza is a force of her own! MY DEAR HAMILTON is the perfect blend of history, adventure, and romance. This novel is not to be missed!

My Dear Hamilton is both an intimate portrayal of the strength, courage, and grace of one of our nation’s founding mothers and the engrossing saga of the birth of a country. Richly detailed, beautifully written, and impressive in its scope and heart, this is historical fiction at its best!
