I can't help but like Oikawa. And Fetus Kageyama is so cute!

I LOVE the fact we're getting so much information about Oikawa and Kageyama's past from when they were in middle school together. I find their rivalry extremely interesting.

I feel like this volume did a great job of showing the majority of our characters strengths whilst playing a match (apart from Tsuki and Yamaguchi but I know their moments are coming up soon) and I was so glad to see Suga is back on the court because I completely forgot that happened.

Oikawa is SUCH TRASH but I can't help but love him. I really adore his friendship with Iwaizumi too, mainly because Iwaizumi always looks at him like 'why the heck am I friends with this idiot?'

    They're great.

Time for volume 7 and to relive the pain that is Karasuno goes through with this match...

Knowing the outcome of the current match thanks to the anime is going to make this even sadder to read. GAH! The tension is so thick!

While the Date Tech spiel was pretty intense, the current game against Aoba Josai is the real deal. It's refreshing to review how investing this current match is, and it'll be very exciting to continue it. Guess I shall be the one to put the requests in at the library.

P.S. Aone is a babe and we need more of him in the series. He's basically the sweetest Gentle Gian

The beginning chapter is about the team working together. Understanding that each person relies on the other supporting them. It was also cool to have someone in the audience call Hinata the ace despite him not being able to hear.

Noya using his foot to stop the ball falling is perfection. It looks so well drawn too ah! Brilliant, how Kageyama takes on Suga’s advice and gives him the toss he needs. Asahi was over coming a lot in this chapter he kept going, asking for another toss and eventually

Asahi was over coming a lot in this chapter he kept going, asking for another toss and eventually with Noya supporting him and Kageyama sending the toss he broke through the iron wall. WOOO!!!! Karasuno won!

The support between Daichi and Suga is awesome <3

It’s interesting how they talk about Oikawa, Kageyama sharing he and Iwazumi have know each other since elementary. Oikawa had smooth, control and trusts his team and they trust him. Ngl he’s rather intimidating.

This match is going to be really interesting, especially how Oikawa talks to Kageyama ahhh! Oikawa starts the match off strong with a dump shot! Oikawa tosses a set while in motion. BOOM Kageyama does his own dump shot using three people as decoys ahhh! I remember seeing that animated and my jaw was on the floor. Then he fires the exact same line back at him oooh, Kageyama is all fired up.

Noya got Oikawa’s serve woo. Kageyama once again being a genius and picking up something from someone else using Kenma’s looking tactic to throw others off. Ooh Oikawa’s figured out Hinata and Kageyama’s signal for the quick...this won’t be good. Kageyama is very tense. Oikawa is going to be slowly breaking down the Karasuno team and by targeting Tanaka it will add pressure. We see Tanaka rise to the challenge, call for a toss and have the main goal just getting it up in the air. He does a brilliant job and scores.

It’s painful because Oikawa knows Kageyama well, he knows his weaknesses and his ‘King of the court’ side and it’s important that he uses his team and doesn’t try and solve all the problems on his own. Kageyama is getting more frustrated, he misses a toss as Oikawa used his own strength against him. I am in so much pain.

Every time I start a new volume of this I'm like, "eh this is kinda boring" and then by the end I'm like, "AUGH WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE OUT."

I'm not sure how I feel about "shortie-pie" as a nickname for Hinata. I can see how it conveys the same slightly derogatory affection as "chibi-chan," but it doesn't feel natural. On the other hand, it does do a great job of making Oikawa sound like a jerk.

And we’re back for the action in the Inter High Tournament! Karasuno and Date Tech are bashing it out to see who gets to continue to the next match, and who gets to go home for the rest of the tournament. The action is fierce, but Karasuno dominates, setting up the rematch again Blue Castle!

I am loving this match so far. Oikawa is like an evil villain, the way he manipulates the Karasuno players. He is especially skilled at getting under Kageyama’s skin, but that isn’t too surprising, considering that they were on the same middle school team together. Oikawa has a massive serve, and he uses it to intimidate and dominate his rivals. His blood-thirsty style of play seems to be taking its toll, and our heroes on the Karasuno team are struggling.

Faced with an opponent like Oikawa, Kageyama and Tanaka are taking the brunt of the mind games. Oikawa’s clever manipulation is like a super power. He gets under everyone’s skin, robbing them of their self-confidence. With a gifted team surrounding him, it doesn’t even matter that Kageyama is a better, naturally gifted player. Without his confidence, and thinking, again, that the entire outcome of the game rests on his shoulders, Kageyama starts making the same mistakes he made in middle school.

Make sure you have the next volume, because this one also ends in the middle of a game, and you are going to want to know who win! This is a fun series.

Kageyama: ah, Tobio is starting to fall back into bad habits as the pressure of needing to take down Oikawa and Aoba Johsai begins to weigh on him. It's refreshing to see Kageyama struggling, and I'll admit I'm glad that he seems to have found that one character on an opposing team who gets under his skin.

Tanaka and Noya: Man these two are fighting the good fight in this volume. Their high spirits and boundless energy keep the readers spirits up as well, even when Karasuno struggles.

Oikawa: Tohru Oikawa is.... a jerk. A big jerk, but damn if he isn't one of my favorite characters. And his interactions with Iwaizumi are hilarious. Iwa-chan is so mean to him, i love it.

Kageyama: Yes, he is on both sides today... while it IS nice to see him struggling you also just kinda want to smack him and tell him to man up. You'd think by now he'd know that everything doesn't just rely on him.

This tankōbon continues with the Interhigh Tournament – in particular with the match of Karasuno High School vs. Datekougyou High School. Karasuno High has managed to outsmart the Datekougyou High School Volleyball Team and managed to break their proverbial iron wall. Thanks to their decoy in Shōyō Hinata and their energized ace in Asahi Azumane, Karasuno High School managed to win the match in two straight hard-fought sets: 25|1|19 and 25|2|22.

Karasuno High's third round match is a team they have already played – Aobajohsai High. However, this time, Tōru Oikawa, captain and setter for Aobajohsai's team is off the injury bench and is anxiously wanting to play against Karasuno High – in particular Tobio Kageyama, his kōhai. It is said that each player on the team has the ability to become an ace player. The tankōban ends in the middle of their first set with them having a slight lead with a score of 11|1|20.

Haruichi Furudate has written and illustrated this tankōbon. For the most part, I really liked the story. The Interhigh Tournament is shaping up nicely, I look forward on how far Karasuno High School would go, because most of the team are in their third year, and I would so like them to make it to the National at least once.

    All in all,

is a wonderful continuation to a new series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
